CLERGY & MINISTRY SNAPSHOT
|
Rev. Clifford Blake walks with God and his faith permeates every aspect of his life. Rev. Blake is extremely dedicated to everything his does and gives the praise to God. He is more than willing to minister to all people and reaches out whatever their needs are. In 2010, Dr. Clifford Blake retired from full-time professorship and is currently a part-time instructor within the Department of Management Science.
THE HEALING MISSION.
Rev. Clifford Blake's calling in ministry is in healing help and always offers this readily to anyone who is ill or hurt. Clifford conducts a ministry of healing and deliverance to individuals from various denominations and faiths who are in need of healing in body, mind, soul or spirit. There is prayer, followed by teaching and instruction of the spiritual root causes of illnesses, and the presentation of scriptures of healing promises and the conditions necessary for restoration. After this, Clifford may conduct one-on-one ministry with the laying of hands while others support prayerfully. Counselling may be recommended.
Meetings are conducted bi-monthly at a public facility. Attendees are people who have been referred to the mission by others who have been helped or who may have seen publications in the local newspapers. They attend other churches or who are from the public at large who have illnesses and afflictions that have proven to be difficult to eradicate.
Fifteen years ago, Clifford had an encounter with the Holy Spirit that created a very strong direction for Clifford in the area of healing the sick. Shortly after, Clifford joined the faculty at the University and a number of miraculous incidents in which he was involved confirmed that God was calling Clifford to work in the area of Healing ministry. After one such incident, Clifford received an invitation from Dr. David Maines to appear on the television program "100 Huntley Street" for an interview. The appearance opened other doors to express God's love and power.
UNIVERSITY MIRACLES.
Clifford has helped people at the university in different ways. There was the healing of the student on crutches. God healed a young man with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, an older woman with leukemia, a young Hindu woman with panic attacks and anorexia, a Buddhist PhD student with an academic [mathematical] problem. To Clifford, these cases demonstrate that God loves us all and that He is no respecter of persons in particular and that miracles are signs to the unbeliever. As the scriptures state:
And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God ; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
[John 20:30-31]
In the incidents with students of other religions, God showed Clifford that He is interested in all affairs of our lives whether it is panic attacks and satanic attacks, anorexia, leukemia, twisted ankles, any other physical, spiritual or religious matters and even 'secular' matters such as academic work [including solving mathematical problems for a Ph.D. thesis]. Clifford believes "prayer
changes things" and does not have any distinctions between the 'secular' and 'religious' in his work. Clifford does all as God enables him and God has enabled Clifford to minister to students in need of healing of bodily ills and salvation.
Non-Christian students have approached Clifford be-cause they knew Clifford is a Christian and would be able to help. In response, Clifford told each person that God created us all and that God loves us all and Clifford promised he would pray to his heavenly father through his son Jesus Christ. Clifford prayed for the Buddhist graduate student in his presence. After several consecutive days, the result was the answer of a loving God to our prayers, an elegant solution to a mathematical problem, the completion of a thesis and its successful defence.
Then one morning, weeks later, the graduate student walked into Clifford's office and said "I am ready." So Clifford said, "Ready for what?" These words will remain etched in Clifford's mind as encouragement and motivation for the rest of his life. The young Buddhist man said, "I am a nobody, and your God did this for me, I want your God." Although taken aback at first, as with the Hindu student with panic attacks who converted to the Christian faith, Clifford soon realized that God was in control and would take care of the situation [the student had wife who a very devout Buddhist and a small son]. Clifford prayed with him a prayer of confession of sins and for the acceptance of Christ to be the Lord of his life. Later Clifford arranged a meeting between the student and the missionary in his church that had recently returned from Thailand and spoke Thai and English. Clifford received a call from the missionary stating that the experience that the student had was real and well understood. Initially, he said, when the student first approached Clifford, he thought that Clifford could perhaps be a fortune teller similar to many who operate in Thailand and in North America, for that matter. But after the angel spoke to him and demonstrated God’s love while he was yet a sinner, his conversion and commitment were real.
Clifford gives God the glory, and thanks God for the grace and favour and authority to administer healing through the name of His Son the
Messiah. These passages inspire Clifford:
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [Matthew 17:19-20 KJV] Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. [Luke 10:19 NASB]
