AGM TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
- Log in at least FIVE TO TEN minutes before start time
- Type ONE LINE at a time.
- INSTRUCTIONS for entering Pastors' Forum for the AGM:
- Goto: http://www.abbacanada.org/forum.html
- Click on left button [image of teacup: "enter my chat room"]
- Applet loads.
- "Your name" - Enter your name here.
- Optional: "Your profile" - no need to enter anything in "Your profile".
Or if you wish, enter your ministry name or town. - Click the button labelled "CHAT!"
- Now you are in the Chat Room.
- Type in the white space at the bottom of the page and press ENTER.
Your message should appear on the screen in sequence. - Please do not type in more than one sentence at a time;
and the sentence should not be long. Paragraphs do not work: the system shuts you out!
When you are shut out momentarily, you need to log back in - follow instructions 1-6. - No need to type your name when you 'speak'. EVERYONE can SEE your name except you.
- Let's interact and talk directly in real-time!
- Flow:
- Please try to avoid the trivial and focus upon the important issues, thank you.
- It is difficult to provide comprehensive updates to latecomers in the middle of the AGM.
Please refrain from asking for updates in the middle of the meeting.
"Listen" to what is being said to catch up.
Wait for the minutes or ask national office for transcript of what you had missed after the meeting. - If you believe what you have to say to another pastor in a public chat would disrupt the momentum of the discussion on hand,
- It is possible to walk away from the computer during the meeting but we will miss your input on items.
- Trouble-shooting - this is very unlikely but just in case your browser works up
[Trouble-shooting: If all you see is a grey box where your Chat Room is supposed to be, what's wrong? If the applet loads incorrectly you should clear your browser cache, restart your browser and try again. The problem is either with your browser, computer, or connection (sometimes a reboot is necessary). You must have a Java enabled browser and you cannot be behind a proxy server or a firewall that has restricted Java. The java-based chat service works in any java-enabled browser, allowing visitors to easily meet new people and friends from around the world. If your browser is Java disabled, your system administrator would have to enable that for you.]
